OUR HISTORY
Family Owned Hatters & Cobblers
Much more than just a hat shop
Sheina and Bob Petch have been making and direct selling their unique range of headwear, brooch plumes and apparel for over 30 years.
The business is craft-based, with mainly quality fur felt hat bodies, and Harris Tweed from Scotland.
Sheina has been the primary maker and is now making tricons, fascinators and cut down cloches; also trimming hats and making all the feather plumes for the hats and caps.
Sheina also invented the reverse bow tie which features on Harris Tweed Celtic Gypsy.
Pam Shanahan has also been a maker for the business and makes Celtic Gypsy, berets, capes and vests. She has been with us for 25+ years.
We also have Chris Grant, scarf maker, who incorporates Harris Tweed into her unique scarves.
June Waterhouse also makes unique brooches for us, and Melanie Hill makes arm and wrist warmers.
Many of our hats and caps are made by our friends in New Zealand.
Before we transferred our business to Gordon we were based in Melbourne and were featured on the TV show Healthy Wealhty & Wise.

Please note we no longer make hats for dogs!
After finding and restoring a beautiful heritage church in the village of Gordon in 2001, and establishing their Hat Shoppe, Sheina and Bob have now semi-retired. However, they have recently converted a large warehouse space in the Shambles Antique Center to house their beautiful Gordon Boot Shoppe. Whilst the shop stocks Blundstone, McKinlays and Bogs, it predominantly features magnificent Harris tweed UGG Boots, legitimately all made in Melbourne.
When visiting the hat Shoppe it is worth calling into the Boot Shoppe, located directly opposite.
P.S. Everyone loves a Gordon Hat Shoppe Hat – especially our discerning dog Chloe.
